The Mum That Didn't Trust Me!

Hi people! Welcome back to You at Yours 😊

I am sure most of you wonder if the individuals who have booked an experience can bring someone with them, they might think it will help them to feel more comfortable in a room with a stranger, and maybe safer, because they don’t know what is gonna happen, right? Now, who could think this more than a mum??

This is about a woman who decided to bring her mother along with her to her session, as I said it’s understandable and it happens, but on this particular occasion, there was an unexpected twist!

So, this particular woman was in her mid-thirties, and her mother insisted on coming along with her to the experience, and expressing all her reasonable concerns e.g.: "I wanna make sure that he's legit, I wanna look him in the eyes, I wanna make sure he's doing it for the right reasons!".

Fine by me, it happens a lot. Loved ones, people in your life, they're gonna question it: "What do you mean he's a man? What do you mean he's trying to encourage self love and body image confidence? Sounds like a ploy to see more boobies to me."

Anyway, mother comes along. She's there, arms folded, looking like she was expecting the worst, and is ready to be protective. She saw me as this predatory type, which is understandable, and I say this openly.

Unfortunately, I am aware that as women, you need to watch your back. It's the sad truth. The world can be unpleasant.

But on this occasion, I am sure when I say that she mistrusted the wrong guy. As my goal is miles away from making anyone feel uncomfortable or unsafe, I was completely cool with her being present in the shoot. So, we had a lovely chat with a cup of tea, and here comes the twist: by the end of the session, this mother BOOKED AN EXPERIENCE FOR HERSELF! How cool is that??

She came in with a very different energy, expecting the worst, only for her mind to then be changed. What I find really beautiful about this, is that she was open-minded enough to change her perception and point of view, and it’s extremely powerful. Moreover, I have to mention that she wasn't there for the actual experience, but only for the initial hair and makeup part, and then waited for us downstairs. But still, she booked a session. Isn't that beautiful?

I just want to say that whilst there can be skepticism, you should try and have an open mind, because greatness waits for you on the other side of fear, you need to give it a chance to be able to see it.
