5 Ways You Might Ruin Your Photoshoot
Here are a list of 5 points to note down so you may have a more awakening and worthwhile body confidence shoot.
1. Lingerie – you won’t try it on
I get it. Who wouldn’t want to wear their favourite pair of comfy undies or oversized tee to a boudoir shoot and call it a day? In essence, this is a body confidence shoot, and this means exploring new levels of confidence within yourself. Having this shoot is a moment-in-time gift for you to look back on, and why not take it up a notch in the all-time body confidence fave – lingerie. It can be a daunting thing to wear something as feminine and revealing as lingerie in front of a lens, but looking back at yourself in such a different but empowering state reels in all the confidence points.
2. You’ll bring a friend
Uh-oh! Flash alert: You’ll think it’ll be moral support, but your friend will stop you from letting go. Yes, I know. Bummer. While I do allow just one additional person on set (as long as they abide by the rules), there is something to consider. Let’s think about it for a sec. A boudoir shoot can be a very self-conscious experience, and having more eyes in the room pasted on you may hold you back from fully progressing throughout the session. No muse wants to end a body confidence shoot feeling the same way that they started, especially if they wish they could’ve explored more. What I won’t say no to is more good energies and posing ideas, so you may bring your friend along only if they’ve got these in the bag!
3. Grooming – threading your eyebrows on the day of the shoot
Yeah, I probably don’t have to say much on this one. I bet no one wants red and itchy brows standing in the way of their photoshoot, so making sure your eyebrows are groomed at least two days before the shoot can be added to your list of things to prepare before your boudoir shoot. To ease any further worries, I send you a list after our consultation of what you need to prepare until the day of the shoot.
4. You’ll wait too long - waiting to be confident before doing the confidence shoot
The thought of doing a boudoir shoot can be a nerve-wrecking one. Nerves are a very normal thing when it comes to doing something challenging and transitioning into the unknown. Challenging I say, because you take a step into this to meet another side of you. A You who sees themselves at a more positive angle (no pun intended). So why not take that big step to meet the You who perceives themselves in that better light? In a world of confidence photography, waiting to be confident before doing a confidence shoot is, in a sense, contradictory and will only deter you from meeting that empowered You. The only thing it asks of you is to have even the tiniest ounce of courage to take that step.
5. You’ll compare yourself to others
You’ve probably heard this many times before, but I’m going to say this louder for the ladies at the back… Do not compare yourself to other women! Self-confidence goes a long way and that includes you realising that another woman’s beauty does not make you less and does not mean that you are not beautiful too! Ever realised how loudly beautiful a person is just by how confident they are within themselves? That is the key to authentic beauty. Owning yourself and being content with every part of you and your unique journey. There is power in leaning into your beautiful truth.
The boudoir experience is a gift from you to you so make it worth remembering. A little bit of courage is all it takes.
