Why You Might Put Yourself Down
Hey, how are you doing? You gorgeous soul. I hope you're well! Today, I want to talk to you about normalisation, your circle, the people you have around you, how they help create your mindset around your confidence, and how you view yourself in the world. If you grew up in a household or amongst people who constantly put themselves down, it's only natural that you will see that as normal behaviour, and you may continue that.
You may reach a point in your life where you wake up from it and say, “Oh wait, hold on. I've called myself x a certain number of times today, and I'm uncomfortable with that.”
But how do we stop it before we get to that stage?
So your circle, who around you only has something negative to say about themselves or only has something negative to say about you when you've achieved something or you like something that looks good on you, and they're not necessarily forthcoming with compliments about it, how can you control that better? Who are you following on social media that we can all sit here and say, social media's so bad, it's so toxic, oh, everything's fake these days. Take some responsibility. You are following those people, you can unfollow them. Your feed could be made up of roses and filled with body confidence tips and tricks. You are choosing to follow those people that you are now also claiming are toxic and hurting your mindset, that is your choice. It's not easy to hear, but that's the reality.
You also have the power to come back from that, and I wanna help you. The goal here for you is to love yourself. To get to a point where you're comparing yourself to others less, where you care less about what other people feel. To get to a point where you're no longer surrounded by doubt and thinking that you're not enough for the world. You are enough, you are plenty. The world doesn't even know what is about to hit it. Trust me, I've seen it hundreds of times.
You are stronger and greater than you can even imagine. And that sounds like some kind of power of the universe thing. Listen, if you don't give yourself the opportunity, you'll never know. So try it.
Look at the people around you and decide, are these people fighting the same fight? Are they in my corner or are they bringing me down? And that includes your friends, your family, your colleagues, and the people you follow on social media.
All these things have an influence and an impact on you. Okay? Just saying. Catch you soon!
